A businessman, his wife and his lawyer find themselves the only people left on Earth after a mysterious incident kills all of humanity. The story predictably evolves into a struggle between the two surviving men for the interests of the last woman on Earth.

Trivia: The screenplay was prolific screenwriter Robert Towne's first effort. He later won an Oscar for Best Screenplay for the 1974 Roman Polanski film, Chinatown and was nominated three more times for the same award. Towne plays Martin in this film, acting under the pseudonym Edward Wain.
